A little info on the Unicorn symbol for the new site: When I was a child and young woman I would draw unicorns on a daily basis. I also remember going back over and over to look at the “Unicorn in Captivity” tapestries at The Cloisters Museum in NY…I was fascinated by the beauty and wanted stare; yet I wanted to set it free at the same time.
Some say that Unicorns are magical creatures, known to bestow good fortune and luck on whomever they choose to shine their light.
In one of his notebooks Leonardo da Vinci wrote:
“The unicorn, through its intemperance and not knowing how to control itself, for the love it bears to fair maidens forgets its ferocity and wildness; and laying aside all fear it will go up to a seated damsel and go to sleep in her lap, and thus the hunters take it.”
Looks like in this instance our models have captured the Unicorn. But they will do it no harm, they will just admire him as he admires them. And so let it be.
